Copyrights, Patents and Licenses - If you are an author you get paid every time each of your book is sold, from which you share 7~8% of revenue generated from the book sales. What is better is that one can also republish public domain material under a new copyright if you change it by at least 20% or add at least 20% more material to it. Writing may be the easy part (for whoever enjoys writing), but the hard part is the selling! It involves marketing techniques, which I would love to share when I get more ideas. Anyway, the royalties (payments you receive from being the copyright holder) of a popular book could serve as a stable passive income source.
The patent protects your right to exclusive ownership of innovation or invention, for a certain amount of time. You get paid when your product, service, or idea is used by or sold to someone else.
You can also sell a license for knowing a particular process or procedure. Licensing someone or an organization to use your knowledge can also generate passive income. Check out the book written by Stephen Key, “One Simple Idea“, and his website at inventright.com on how to do this.
Nowadays, creating internet content such as blogs, eBooks, videos, websites can generate passive incomes from online advertisements too. People launch their own blogs, eBooks, video channels on platforms such as WordPress, Amazon, YouTube, and many others... Many believe it is an inevitable trend that internet content publication will be democratized eventually. It means an enormous opportunity available for the ordinary people who have online access. I hope I will have the material to share regarding this topic later on.
